Too much work again...

Both Mike and I worked a lot this week so I don't have anything very exciting. That being said we'll give a basic update and plans for the future.
We are still working on getting the porsche in street driving condition. It runs great but there is no knob to turn on the headlights. (I refuse to drive another car where tools are needed for everyday functions, the sentra required a screwdriver to open the gas tank.) The center console piece to turn off the check engine light is missing. The gas gauge doesn't work and the windshield wipers aren't on yet. As I told the mechanic that means I can't drive it yet because it's always dark or raining this time of year. Hopefully next week we can take it home. I now call it our money pit.
The solar panels have been ordered and should be installed anyday. The permits for our very strict county were approved 2 weeks ago so it's finally happening :)
The garden is doing great at producing eggplant, basil and limes. Anyone have a good recipe for this combination?
This week I worked 60 hours. As most of you know I'm an emergency vet, which means I work both day and night shifts. This week I had 3 days shifts and 2 night shifts so my body is all screwed up. We do have an adorable 2 week old bottle fed kitten right now at work and he's just at the age that he wants to play after his bottle. It's cuter than I can describe :)
Mike has been working a lot this week also. He did stunts for Burn Notice 1 day, a music video yesterday and is just leaving to go do a Honda commercial.
As far as future plans we are getting ready to have some of the family come down here for Thanksgiving. I really enjoy cooking and having people come visit. For Christmas we'll go see Mike's dad and stepmom in central Florida. They always have great food and it's so relaxing there on the river. We'd like to take a vacation to one of the national parks this year but haven't figured that out yet and are a little short on money right this moment (see the car part above). And for all of you still wondering, yes, we are trying to have a baby but have not yet been successful. I think that sums it up :)

Hey! Who's coming for Thanksgiving? Are they rich? How are they affording the astronomical airfare.

And, I KNOW, reading about Bert's sex life is WEIRD and he's not even my brother!!! Ewwwwwww is right.

Jill, you have got to call me on your next day off- your schedule is WAY more unpredictable than mine. Even if I am at the gym or running errands, you can leave a message and I'll call you back during nap time. The kids will be gone to school on Monday, so call me the minute you get a chance!

I hear you: you should not have to drive a car that requires tools to operate. The corolla is the last crappy car I will ever drive.

There is NO SUCH THING as a "good recipe" when eggplant is involved.

And, it is dark and rainy in August there? It is blindingly bright, swelteringly hot, and generally miserable here. I can't wait for Fall.

Too bad that I don't have plans to run to Florida for Thanksgiving... I guess you were here last year, so that would make it our turn to travel, except that then we wouldn't be able to make our monstrous house payment or buy any presents in December!

Move closer.

And don't forget to call me when you can!

Yeah, who's coming for thanksgiving? OK, about our sex life, you all should be grateful I kept it to that :)
I can't believe you can still function working that much. Do you enjoy it, or do you wish you had a more steady schedule?
